What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a review process to determine if your program meets the defined standards of quality, competency and credibility in your field of service. There are three major bodies of accreditation: Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Council on Accreditation (COA) and Joint Commission on Accreditation (JCOA). JCOA’s accreditation process focuses primarily on the health care organization sectors such as hospitals, doctors’ offices, etc. Whereas CARF and COA accredit programs such as child and youth services, behavioral health, opioid treatment programs, aging services, employment and community services, medical rehabilitation, and vision rehabilitation services.
